Mark placed our overnight bags inside our Grab car. As the snap of a closing car door cued to our driver that we were ready to go, we set our working-class selves for a day or Art de Vivre (the art of living) during our stay at Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit.

Back in the Philippines, Sofitel’s Spirals buffet was the hotel buffet to experience, but we have never given much thought to the accommodations they offer.

Since it seems as if now is our chance to experience the French Flare meets Thai Hospitality thanks to the promos, we booked a stay for our little family on Mark’s birthday for our little family.

What we like about it:
It’s conveniently located in Sukhumvit.
Sofitel Sukhumvit is located in the heart of Bangkok, offering access to the rest of the city via BTS Skytrain and MRT. It’s also near Terminal 21, Korea Town, Nana Square, and just about any shopping mall within Bangkok.

It has its own skywalk bridge.
Sofitel made sure their guests could go directly from the hotel to Terminal 21 and the nearby train stations, BTS Asoke and MRT Sukhumvit. It’s such a convenience for families and travelers so they can walk safely and shield themselves from the hot Bangkok sun whenever they need to go.

Impeccable customer service.
You can expect nothing less than a five-star hotel service from their staff, and they do so with so much warmth. Checking in was a breeze, as well as their attentiveness to their guest’s needs.

The rooms are spacious.
Our suite was perfect for our family of three. Unlike other hotels we have tried, the bathroom was a room in itself. The bathtub was set near a glass window so you could relax with the view of the city, and the toilet and shower areas were separated.

L’Occitane amenities.
Don’t bother packing your toiletries because Sofitel prepares their rooms for their guests with amenities they would actually use: L’Occitane. It was the finishing touch for the luxurious stay in the hotel.

The pool.
Sofitel has a stunning pool area if you are hankering for a swim or a calm dip. It’s lined with reclining pool chairs, Liquide pool bar, and even a splash area for little kids. It will be a shame if you won’t pack your swimsuits because we think this recreational space is one of the best ways to enjoy the Sofitel experience.

Of course, the food.
As always, I come foremost for the food. Start off your breakfast with flaky croissants, and get second helpings of coffee at the Voila! buffet. Try a little of everything from the cheese room and finish with refreshing juices. Our son lingered in the Granola Stations, so us, parents, made the most of the rest of the dishes. They don’t have an overwhelming number of food choices, but just enough for a good meal experience.
