Since it opened, we’ve wanted to try Auro Chocolate Cafe, so we made it a point to visit their BGC branch during our trip to Manila.

Tree-to-Bar Chocolate Cafe in BGC

Everyone gushes over the cafe’s interiors and drinks, and we agree: it’s worth the visit. Auro Chocolate is an award-winning sustainable chocolate brand that supports cacao farmers while promoting some of the finest products of the Philippines.

The cafe sells all its products, including its famous tree-to-bar chocolates and unique variations, couverture for baking and drinking, desserts, drinks, and meals.

We tried their cortado for our afternoon merienda. It was the very caffeine fix I needed for the afternoon slump.

Of course, we got ordered their signature dark chocolate drink, which can be a treat for pure dark chocolate lovers. Its distinct taste is not similar to retail chocolate drinks. If you have yet to acquire this taste, start with a small hot chocolate cup and add some sweetness.

We had them both!

We liked their ube pan de chocolate, a sourdough rendition of the classic pandesal with white chocolate and ube filling in the center.

Besides these, our son picked a very likable chocolate peanut butter cookie and gooey fudge brownies with hazelnut.

The items are pretty pricey, given their advocacy for improving the lives of cacao farmers sourcing the finest beans and meticulously processing them for the best products. However, our “support local farmers” hearts say it’s worth the price. Visit this beautiful, proudly Filipino chocolate cafe in BGC when you’re there!
