I switched to essential oil-based serums since my husband made them for me. ✨

Let's make an essential oil-based face serum!
Let’s make an essential oil-based face serum!

This time, we’re using Elemi in place of Frankincense. It’s a great alternative that helps create an even-looking complexion (among other powerful 💪 benefits). Plus, Young Living Philippines‘s Elemi oil is exclusively and consciously sourced from the Philippines. 👏

This is such an inspiring story!

I always add Lavender to soothe the skin and Melaleuca Alternifolia (tea tree oil) to treat those pesky blemishes.

Essential Oil Face Serum Recipe

10 drops Lavender oil

10 drops Elemi oil (or 10 drops Frankinsence)

10 drops Melaleuca Alternifolia

15 ml Jojoba oil (carrier oil)

Essential Oil Skin Benefits

Lavender oil. Lavender oil is a mild, all-around essential oil that soothes most minor skin irritation. It reduces blemishes and skin aging. Lavender oil’s aroma is known to induce calm and relaxation.

Tea Tree Oil. Tea tree oil is a staple ingredient in face products targeting blemishes. It supports healthy skin, promotes smooth skin, and heals blemishes thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It reduces redness and inflammation.

Elemi oil. Elemi keeps skin healthy. It improves dry, sensitive, and oily skin and moisturizes skin deeply to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. nd gentle on the skin thanks to the Jojoba oil. YL currently sells V6 as carrier oil (light and works great too!), but if you want to try Jojoba, we get ours from Human Heart Nature.

How to Use

Always, always do a skin patch test first. Dab a little oil on your arm and observe if your skin reacts to it. If you notice any redness or irritation, do not use it and consult a doctor.

Apply to clean face and neck day and night with one to two drops. It goes a long way!

Store in a cool, dark place. Do not expose to direct sunlight.

It’s best to use tinted glass bottles with dropper to prevent damage on oil.

You can also add other essential oils to your liking but take note of photosensitive oils.

For day time use: apply a layer of sunblock after the serum.
