The early bird catches the worm, and in this case, a scenic view as well. We went on a Phuket trip in Thailand and if there’s one thing to include in our family itinerary, it’s an island hopping activity at the famous Phi Phi Island.

Phi Phi Islands, Krabi, Thailand
Whether you’reyou’re coming from Krabi or Phuket, families can enjoy the famous Phi Phi Island thanks to speed boats and tour packages readily available in the airport, travel agencies, and of course, Klook.

Technically, the Phi Phi Islands are part of the Krabi province. It has gained popularity through the 2000 Leonardo DiCaprio movie, “”The Beach,”” where its crystal clear waters and iconic scenery took center stage, particularly Maya Bay.
According to our V. Marine Tour Guide, the islands have begun to welcome millions of tourists ever since the movie premiered, being added to most people’speople’s bucket lists.
Waking Up at 4:00 am for a Sunrise Tour: Is it Worth It?
There are plenty of Phi Phi Island Tour Packages in Thailand, even ones you can book a day before, but V. We were delighted with our V. Marine Tour’s Early Bird Small Group – Phi Phi Islands Sunrise Tour. The staff were very professional and punctual, so not a minute was wasted. They were also very organized, anticipating their guests’ needs two steps ahead. For instance, they provided anti-sea sickness medicines before heading out and recommended toilet breaks before boarding the boat. The staff maintained the boat’s cleanliness by collecting all guests’ slippers, rinsing them, and then placing them in a dedicated box. Everything was hygienic, from the floors to new mouthpieces for snorkeling. They have a system in place to keep their guests comfortable, hydrated, and fed with onboard drinks and snacks.
What’s more, guests can pay through cash, credit cards, or fund transfers (for Thai local banks) on the day, so you don’t need to worry about it before the trip.
Are the Phi Phi Islands Worth Seeing?
What is a Phuket or Krabi trip without a Phi Phi Islands tour? While we have seen similar views and more colorful corals in Coron, Palawan in the Philippines, we understand that a good rule of thumb in any family trip is not to compare. Phi Phi Islands are their own kind of beauty, made more charming with the Thai culture and experiences.
Do we recommend getting a Phi Phi Islands tour for families with small children? Absolutely. But be ready for the strong waves of the Andaman Sea and do prepare for sea sickness, especially for kids. Our son threw up three times, having had our trip to Phuket in the rainy month of June. Thankfully, it didn’t rain throughout our day tour, but it did mean wavier seas. With the help of our V. Marine tour guide (he had tips and tricks up his sleeve), we let our son’s sea sickness run its course, and it was gone during the main events.
Add-On Photography Services
V. Marine Tour offers a photography services. For only THB 1,400 for 4 guests, a dedicated photographer takes your photos and snorkeling videos and will be shared via One Drive on or two days after the trip. We did well to not expect artsy photos, but at least we didn’t have to take out our phones so much during the island hopping tour and it helped us to be fully present during the activity.
