You know you have reached a new level of adulting when researching the best mop for your home online. Recently, I had an extensive conversation with my sister about which mop head I prefer to mop the floor at home: Is it better to go for a conventional spin mop? For me, it’s best reserved for cleaning up spills. It’s also worth sharing that it has to be somewhat damp to do the job because making it completely dry hardens the material. You will need to soak it for a bit before it can bend and absorb liquid.
Hands-free self-cleaning mop
I know, self-cleaning mop? What’s that? Don’t you hate it when hair and other dirt stick to your mop head, and while avoiding touching the nasty stuff, you have to dig the dirt out with your hands? Well, the good thing about a hands-free self-cleaning mop is that it uses a microfiber cloth mop head so hair and debris don’t get trapped on it, and you have a separate wash and dry section for rinsing and squeezing out the floor cleaner mixture from your mop head.

The only downside to this mop is that the mop cloth refill can quickly deteriorate when left damp and improperly rinsed and dried. I have also found that the flap that attaches to the mop head can tear easily. Although, understandably, it’s part of the item’s everyday wear and tear, I wish it has a reinforced version so we can use it longer. My workaround for the microfiber mop head tear is to sew an extra cloth slip to strengthen the flap.
